Boy reflects my interest in capturing the quiet, often overlooked emotional worlds of young people. I’m drawn to expressions that hold complexity—moments where innocence, uncertainty, resilience, and introspection all coexist. In this portrait, I wanted to explore that subtle tension, portraying a figure who appears both vulnerable and quietly self-possessed.
The stippling technique plays an essential role in this process. Each dot becomes a deliberate mark of time and attention, echoing the slow formation of identity during youth. As the layers build, so does the sense of depth—mirroring how experiences, impressions, and emotions accumulate to shape who we become.
Through Boy, I aim to honor the inner life of early adolescence: a space where softness meets strength, where questions begin forming, and where the first contours of the self start to emerge.
